6.5 Swedish ammo from a friend, because he thought it was 6.5 Creedmore.

I didn't have a Swedish Mauser then but wasn't long before I did. [smilie=s:

Ooooh...I hate when that happens.

It happened to me too. BIL was giving away 450 rounds of 30-06 so I said I'd take them. Didn't have a 30-06 at the time but one followed me home a little later. :-P

Bought a 6.5 Swede which was scoped with a 6X Prominar but that had a missing bolt, thought I might dissemble for parts. 8 months later the seller found the bolt and sent it to me, for free!

It now rests in my safe, one of the most accurate that I've ever shot.

Yeah, anything chambered in 6.5x55 has a tendency to be accurate.

Kinda hoping I don't come across a rifle in .225 Winchester. Picked up a set of new dies for cheap. Little did I know that brass is unobtainable, worse than 25-20.

It is easy to form from 30 30. The 225 is a great cartridge.

Dobré ráno! Just for you ;) I checked out Quality Cartridge, and they do list it! Pretty inexpensive, imho, too! Perhaps you may wish to give them a ring to ascertain their stock, and perhaps put those new dies to use!319006

I bought a set of like new or new Redding 260 dies for $20, well, because they were $20. Then I found a closeout on .260 brass and bought some of those. About 3 to five years later, I was waiting on AR 10 parts (barrel) for my 358 winnie and ended up buying an on sale Wilson Combat 260 rem barrel. I used the Aero Prec upper and lower (destined for the 358) to build the .260 and, then had to buy a whole new set of parts when my 358 win barrel was delivered.

Sometimes a great deal is not a great deal!!!!!

But...that .260 rem AR-10 is one of my favorite calling rifles and pig hunting rifles. 95 grain vmaxs are nasty on just about everything. You sure know when you hit something.

Look on the bright side:

Life just presented you with the perfect reason why you 'needed' that Mauser.

2 50-round boxes of Federal 22-250 followed me home from Wallyworld just because they’re on clearance at $9.95 each (worth way more than that for the brass alone).
Then I bought a matching rifle.

I understand the logic in these purchases.
I hope Mrs. Winger doesn't read any of this.
She might buy a 5 gallon gas can and 'need' a new car to go with it.

Be careful, Winger Ed! My friend Alex bought his wife a new new car -- 1st brand new vehicle they ever had -- and the first time it needed petrol she drove to a station and filled it with....[U]diesel/U]l! Alex pretty much always had a diesel truck... Anyhoos -- that simple faux pas -- not under warranty -- added about $1,200.00 USD to the cost of the auto! "Red is for gasoline; Yellow for diesel"!

I won 80 rounds of 50-95 winchester Buffalo Arms loaded black powder, 68 of them unfired ,12 fired for $26 at the local auction house. A few months and $1,500 later I was the proud owner of a new Uberti 1876 50-95.
It's a very nice rifle!

Kinda like buying your wife a pair new shoes that she does not have an outfit for……yet.

That's another potential mine field.
Like if you got her one of those crazy expensive purses.
She might need a whole new wardrobe to go with it.

With me it does not take much of a reason. A few years ago a buddy asked me if I reloaded 38S&W for his Brit Victory Model. Told him no, but it kind of gnawed at me - so dies and brass and then 200 grain boolits from Matt's Bullets. Then my buddy said he'd sold it. So. then I ended up with a Victory in 380 200 - a/k/a 38 S&W. So I reckon I am a bit too subject to suggestion.

I bought a stripper clip for a SMLE, hoping I could modify it to work with my 8x56R straight pull rifle. No dice.

But was given the ugliest, most bubba'd SMLE on the face of the earth several years later. $200 worth of Numrich Arms parts later, I had a rifle I didn't have to wear a paper bag over my head when I shot it. And the stripper clip worked!

What about buying your wife a pair of shoes that are the wrong size (caliber)? Do you you get another wife that fit them new shoes??

How many have acquired a mold and then find the unit to shoot it in, guilty here!
