Always wanted to try this.
Cleaning dies in the wet tumbler.
It worked great.
These die were not that bad.
Slight surface rust outside, and some on the inside shoulder.
Tumbled like I do shells.
After done, I polished the insides with some steal wool.

I think people's case cleaning method du jour (ultrasonic) would work well too.

I have a feeble ultrasonic cleaner I got from an Estate Sale that was designed to clean artist brushes. It does OK on cases, if some thought given, but I gave it a go at my BP revolver cylinder last time I shot it. Boy Howdy. Have to remember to always do that. Everything clean and fine corrosion gone from pits in nipple, etc. Real quick.

That worked very well, they look new.
219 Wasp dies, don't see them very often.

That didn't ding the threads up

Nice! What solution if any did you use?

Threads were fine.
It cleaned them up nicely.
I use a mix of stainless pins and bits.
Hot water, dash of Lemishine and liquid car wash n wax.
1 hour.
I think it worked just fine.
I just might clean more dies later on.

Did you run multiple dies together or just one at a time with the pins? I wonder about denting depending on the number of dies in the drum.

It's best to tumble this by themselves if they have any real weight. They will get banged up in the trommel.

ATF and mineral spirits will keep them in new condition and prevent them rusting again.
