Hello All,

Does anyone know of a good translucent plastic ammo box for 32 auto ammo?

I have googled the heck out of it but can't find anything.
Definitely not MTM or Berrys.

A 9mm box has too much horizonal and vertical play to keep a 32 auto round from rattling out of it's "cell".

The following MTM box appears to be correctly sized for 32 auto but it is opaque green, not translucent.

Does anyone know if the following box will fit 32 auto correctly (i.e. NOT "if you hammer it in, it will fit, sorta").

"P-100-22-24 - Ammo Box 100 Round Flip Top For .22 LR"
"Description: For 22 Long Rifle and 25 ACP"

I have tried using a 9mm/380 box and putting a pad in the bottom of each cell, but the result has been lukewarm.
putting a piece of foam/cardboard in the lid to take up vertical space is easy, but blocks viewing through the translucent top,
which is a problem since I want to see what's in there when the box is shut.
That's why I rejected the opaque MTM 32 auto boxes.

cutting little squares and putting in each cell to take up vertical play:
1. I have four boxes, 50 cells each. thats 200 little squares I have to cut and place. PITA
2. this will address height of cell but not width of cell, and too much rattle room will still allow the cartridge to rattle out of its cell.

Thus I need a box with the width of the cells is close to 32 auto, and also the height.
Thus my continued search for a box designed to actually fit 32 auto

Does anyone have any ideas?
(besides storing them in a baggie)

Thanks!

I hadn't checked in awhile, but Midway might still sell them under their own label.

Check their sight and search 'ammo boxes' they probably still have them.
Maybe only for ACP down to .380 or 9mm, but that should work.

I've been using the MTM P50-38 and P100-38 for my S&W 32 Long and H&R 32 Mag. These might be a little to deep for the 32 ACP. I did a search and the only box I found for 32 ACP is the one you've posted.

I don't know if they still sell them, but Dollar General use to sell a plastic box for cream cheese that a bullet tray, discarded at the range that was from 9MM, would fit in perfectly.

J&J makes some translucent boxes or hinged two piece boxes with translucent tops that may also be found from Midway or Sportsman’s warehouse. The 9mm size will be as close as you can get. Also, I’ve bought some MTM boxes that were black with translucent green tops. The solution to your problem is out there, in fact, several solutions if you look around.

Greetings,

For 32 ACP, I use the MTM 9mm boxes.

Cheers,

Dave

I think a box for .380 is as close as you can get. If you can't find one, then a 9mm box will work if you cut some cardboard shims to fit inside the lid to limit the up and down movement of the contents. A folded cloth will also work.

Since the depth of the cavity formed in the base of the box is too deep consider cutting a filler from closed cell foam. The holes are square anyway. Just find something about the right thickness, usually packing in a box, cut in the right width strips then cut again forming squares a little larger than the hole and poke them in the holes. That will keep the cartridge from bottoming out in the box and easier to remove individual cartridges. Then if needed another layer across the top to stop rattling as already mentioned.

> use a filler, either on top, or in the bottom of the cells in a 380/9mm box.

Thanks for the input :)

Dusty's idea is probably the best ... But ... I can find no translucent 32 acp boxes during my search . Everything 32 acp seems to be not translucent .
Cabela's at one time made a complete line of Translucent boxes , I use a lot of them but I never looked for 32 acp and I don't remember seeing a box that size , but a 380 box could be "padded" and possibly made to work !

I still like the clear Cream Cheese container and a 32 acp insert made to hold the rounds in place ! That's a nifty Idea :drinks: (post #4 ) and might be the better way to do it .
Good Luck ... and remember ... Where there is a Will there is a Way !

I use these and the fit is good for .32acp the interior cells are not too tall since they are made for .380

If all you want to know is what's inside just mark the box with a label. I find the address labels form the office supply section of stores tend to peel off easily. If not I little alcohol will remove the rest. Or you can just put on top of the bullets in the box. Also, if you know someone with a 3-d printer they may be able to make you inserts for the cream cheese boxes if you can find them.

I use plastic zip-lock bags, everyone's going to loose pack anyway, might as well join the crowd.

I use to use some clear plastic boxes with hinged lids for some calibers.
I just cut a piece of 1/2" thick Styrofoam to fit in the box and some calibers a piece of Styrofoam to fit in the lid if the cartridge was really short compared to the depth of the box.
I then used a piece of brass tubing from the hobby store , the diameter of the casings in each caliber.
I then just sharpened the end of the tubing and used it to cut holes into the Styrofoam that was sitting in the bottom of the plastic case.
I did the cases for .25acp , .32 auto ,32 s&w and .380 auto and some for .32 Long and 7.62x 25

Powder valley had some 100 round boxes that have translucent tops on a black bottom. Might be worth a look.

Brownell's sells a translucent hinged top box made by Frankford Arsenal. They've held up well for me. I think they only have 380 and 9 sizes.
