I have a M1898 Krag Carbine. This is one of the NRA Guns that was sold by the DCM back in the 1920's. It is in excellent condition and handles factory rounds very well. I have been looking for some load data fo it. I have a supply of 200 grain cast lead, gas checked bullets but the only data I can find uses powders I don't have. I do have a couple of pounds of AA No. 9 as well as some IMR 3031.

Anyone out there with some load data for the 3031 and a 200 grain .309 diameter gas checked bullet?

I realize this is not what you ask for but from my experence .309 is too small. I know off at least 5 Krags that require .311 to be accruate.
As for powder most of us are using 18gr. of 2400 with a 190 to 200 gr bullet.

I have to agree with 44wcf. I recently started loading CB's for my Krag and I have been sizing at .311 on my Lyman 311466 152gr GC boolit. My stepson and I loaded up a few last week with IMR4227 (could not find any 2400 anywhere at the time). Our load of 19.5gr IMR4227 shot a 5 round group of 0.412 at 50 feet. We are going to try some other combinations this weekend and will have access to a 100 yrd. range with Chronograph.

BTW Grapeshot, I normally load 36.5gr of IMR3031 with a 180gr J-Word boolit for my hunting load. Not sure if that helps for CB's but it might give you a starting point.
