Any of the Italian reproductions will use the .457 round ball but their preferred size is .454. The soft lead will allow the .457s to easily chamber the larger diameter .457s as used in the Ruger Old Army. I have used the .457s that were gifted to me in my non ROAs and they worked just fine.

I like the .457" ball in my several different .44/.45 C&B revolvers ( Ruger, Pietta, Uberti ) since, when seating the ball into the chamber, a thin lead ring is shaved off the ball, indicating a chamber sealed at the muzzle end.

I have a 6 cavity Lee mould that’s cut to O.457” and use the balls for both my Ruger Old Army and Pietta’s copy of the 1860 Colt. As posted above, pure lead seats fairly easily in the smaller cylinder and gives added safety to prevent chain fires

Over here in not so sunny England we tend to use the .457" ball in the .45" ruger old army and the smaller one's in Pietta/Uberti .44" etc, You can use the .457" in all of the .44" pistols but it will reduce the amount of force needed to seat the ball,s if you have the correct smaller size and it can be very interesting when a person new to casting tries to load balls other than made out of mainly pure lead ,
It would not be the first time I have said to them to ditch the balls they have cast and then gave them some ball's to use as they are cutting the palm of their hands on the loading lever as they are so hard to seat.

Generally preferred ball size for a Ruger. You can stuff it into most 44 cal. Piettas and Uberti's which have 454" balls recommended for them. I have and it may sacrifice some accuracy. They also work for multi ball loads in my 45/70's and 458 WM.

Pietta Shooters Model recommends .464” and its chambers are .456” but I’ve used .457 in them successfully. Most of my revolvers are reamed to .456” and use .457 balls or bullets
