i知 working up a noe 310-165-FP out of my pump 760 30-06. currently at the range and second round during load work up doesn稚 chamber all the way and gets stuck. i force the lever down shell comes out but the lead bullet is still stuck in the chamber. i知 sizing the bullet to .310. the groove diameter of the rifle was .3085.

i知 assuming the nose of the bullet is too thick or maybe a tad out of round. is it the wrong style of bullet ? what would i size the nose down to?

i知 using COWW for alloy. for load work up i知 using between 11-13.5 grains of red dot

"I'm assuming the bullet to .310" Do you mean "sizing the boolit to .310"?

Seat a little deeper, the bullet is getting jammed into the lands.

That is the 30 XCB bullet. The initial ogive [.310 to .299 for a length of .221] is to specifically mate to the leade of chambers cut with 30-06 XCB chamber reamer. For standard SAAMI spec chambers, the 30 XCB bullet does need deeper seating. The 30-06 XCB reamer can be used to chamber the three 30 XCB cartridges; the 30x57 XCB, the 30x60 XCB and the 30-06 XCB.

It does seat a little deep in a std .30-06 (and .308) but once you get it the right oal it shoots really well.

I can assure you the Lee #C308-170-F , while not as glamorous as an NOE mould , works great in my Winchester model 94 30-30 , 1903A3 Springfield 30-06 and even in a 1911(K) Schmidt-Ruben 7.5 Swiss .
I size them all to .308" ... seat them all to the boolit's crimp groove ... and carry on like I have good sense .
The rounds feed and eject from all three just fine , no stuck boolits in throats .
I have also tried sizing them all to .309 " but saw no increase in accuracy ...
...it's like 6 of one and half a dozen of the other !

Essentially it is a reamer/chamber with minimum body specs, a tight neck giving only .001 clearance [yes the necks need slight turning] with a .310 30 XC Bullet seated and the leade cut to match the ogive taper of the 30 XCB bullet seated with the base of the GC at the base of the case neck.

In standard 30 cal chambers I seat the 30 XCB bullet to just bump the leade when fully chambered. IThey shoot extremely well in my 308W Match M70 and my M1903A1 National Match 30-06.
