I am unable to find Johnson’s paste wax at a reasonable price. I can find MinWax at my local lumber store for $10 per can. I am shooting revolvers, 38spl, 44spl, and 45LC, 800 to 950 FPS. I have mixed JPW with Alox and mineral spirits as a TL, but also used it alone with mineral spirits. At slower velocities it seems to work well even without Alox.

Is MinWax a straight across substitute for JPW? The price is right. Is there a better floor wax?

I’ve used Minwax before, as boolit lube, just like JPW, couldn’t tell any difference. There’s a wax called Trewax? That’s supposed to be the same as JPW, but I never tried it. Just my opinion. Compare sds sheets and see what the contents are. Proprietary formulas won’t give specifics on ratios, but will tell the ingredients.
Good luck.

Trewax does not have the smell JPW has. It works well in woodworking but haven't tried it as a lube.
