44/45 Caliber speed strip anyone?

Finally! Here's what those idiots at Bianchi should have done 30 years ago.

I ordered two two-packs to try. They work. Flat work. Forty fours and forty fives fit just like the .357s do in their strips. I tried the .45 Auto Rims and the rims are a bit thick, but they work too.

I've no connection with 'em, just a very satisfied customer.

I looked at the site but don't see how they work or how they are supposed to be used...

I have used revolver speedloaders and of course stipper clips, but these seem to be a combination of both.

That is a improvement for the 44 crowd. The 45 ACP people can have quarter, half and full moon clips. Faster to load and much better to eject.
What do you do with a S&W 45 acp with a cylinder full of fired cases and no clip?

I don't know if you're familar with the Bianchi 38/357 speed strips, but these are the same and work the same except for larger calibers.

Ani't it just great? :) The salesman told me today that they are also gonna make strips for eight rounds/357, the new 327, ten shot 22 and they are thinking of making a 475/480.

i use the 6 shot hk cylinder twist and drop speed loaders for competition with my 44 mag....

I am not familiar with the Bianchi speeds strips and still don't understand how these work or why I would want to buy one or more... :roll:

Is this nothing more than a cartridge holder? If it is, then do you simply pull a round out and then put it in the mag or cylinder? How exactly does this "speed" up reloads?

It's a long winded description, That's why no one's jumping on it'
First off, the strip clip is not meant to replace your speed loaders. Primarily they constitute a neater way for a C.C. to carry spare ammo. No rattling around. The rounds stay together so are more fumble proof in a stressful sit'n.
Being flexible it's easy to develop a loading technique whereby slipping 2 rds at a time into the cyl (w/o dropping the others) will give you a "speed load", sorta.
You should see it being "worked" to appreciate it.
Now you can say" Oh yeah, I remember seeing those!"

Mike, the nearest thing I can think of to a Speed Strip would be loop loaders on a belt. We were trained to load 2 at a time from the loops. The SS works sorta the same way, you place 2 rounds in the cylinder, give the SS a slight twisting lift and they release to go the rest of the way in. It's not a speed loader, but it is much faster than fumbling for loose rounds and far less bulky than a speed loader. Since most of us will never need 1 round, much less 5 or 6 or more, it's just a handy way to keep your spare ammo in one place and accessible.

I just ordered 4 of the strips for 44/45 calibers. I have a Ruger Redhawk in 45 Colt that the HKS loaders work fine with but they are a little bulky sometimes. By the way, the guy who took my order said that they have been inundated with orders with most of us saying they saw it on a firearms message board. We are probably doing more for the economy than most these day :-D

By the way, back in the early 80s when i started LE, a lot of guys still carried the Bianchi speed strips in drop pouches. They didn't trust the new fangled speedloaders. [smilie=1:

To add to what has been said above:

A speed strip is a strip of flexable, tough plastic that holds the cartridges in a straight line. It holds them by gripping the rim.

It is slower than a speed loader, for sure. But much flatter.

My machinist/gunsmith buddy told me an interesting story yesterday regarding a Charter Bulldog. Seems that a customer brought in a Hayes Frontier Marshall in .44 with a Buntline barrel, 10-12". Naturally, he did not want one that long. He had my friend lop it off to a more manageable 5.5" which left a big chunk of barrel left over.

Another friend dropped by with a Bulldog complaining that the recoil was a little too stiff for him. Hmmm, my buddy remembered the barrel chunk and talked the fellow into rebarreling the little monster with this big chunk of left over barrel. He made it the same length as the factory barrel. After he finished, he said the barrel came all the way to the edges of the frame but it added weight out front and made a great carry gun. A real bull dog with a bull barrel. Rather than re-blue the piece he sent it off to be armaloyed.

Sounds like a neat piece to me. Anyway, this was about 15 years ago and the fellow still has it and loves it.
