Has anyone tried this bullet in the Marlin 1895 Cowboy? I just wondered if the bullet is flat pointed enough to load several in the mag without punching the primer in front of it. It looks awful close to me.

I purchased a 1895CB in 2001 or 2002 and have been using the Lyman 330 grain Gould HP bullet in it ever since I got the rifle . I've taken it hunting a few times with a mag full of those bullets with NO problems . Also used the bullet to kill a deer .

I use this bullet in a 1972 1895 with pretty good accuracy. I hunt with it and can go with a full mag without problem (the GOULD bullet is a HP design).

Thanks for the info guys. I figured someone from here had used this bullet in this rifle and could tell me about it. How did the bullet work on the deer? Like a sledge hammer I would bet.

I was about 20 feet up a tree and a big bodies 6 pointer walked up to within 21 yards of me ! At the crack of the rifle the deer folded . One hole in two larger holes out !

My load was the Gould bullet cast from wheelweights and aircooled , pushed by 31.5 grains of SR4759 and lit with a CCI200 primer .

I used the Gould in a BP singleshot loaded with black powder. I hot the deer a little far back and found him on just inside the woods where he ran off the field. He was stretched out. Tow other deer I lever hit and some others I ahve seen often take a little longer to die. Nothing real dramatic, just good perforamnce. I have gotten good accuracy out of the 95 Marlin CB with the bullet. It goes way back as a deer bullet.

Do you have any load data that worked for you. I have not had very good luck with accuracy out off this boolit with my 1895cb.

I have great satisfaction with this bullet in my '95 CB seated over 72 grain of 2F GOEX. It is satisfactorily accurate to 200 yards, has plenty of punch though a bit light for elk, I think. It will hold minute of what I want to shoot for 15 shots without blow tube or wiping.

.459" and lubed with SPG when I killed the deer !

Now I use "Thompson's Blue Angel lube instead .
