While I guess I may be a bit ahead with this question, but I will ask anyway.

I agreed to purchase a set of 101 series 41 caliber ch swaging dies form Madcaster and in anticipation of working with them when they get here I have a few questions.

What would one start with for jackets? Can one use fired cases of one sort or another? I have some lead wire but not sure of what size one should start with.

I thought I would start with pure lead and some sort of annealed pistol case and see what happens in a standard reloading press. I have several different makes of presses to try and break so I shoudl be set there until I can find the money for more toys.

comments welcome.

I am using a CH set of dies in 41 caliber. I am using 10mm jackets and they work just fine.
I am using .340 wire which makes a .360 diameter lead slug in my aftermarket core making die.
Good luck with your adventure.

joe,

can I pick your brain when the dies arrive? I have never done any swaging before so may have a few.

What are you using for lubricant? How heavy are you making your slugs?
