I got to wondering the other day about just what the differences are between the High Standard Models B and C.

I have a 6 3/4" Model B, and my uncle had one of the shorter (4½" ???) ones when I was a kid. I know they are chambered for the .22 Long Rifle, and the C was for the .22 Short.

Thinking about it, the only really needed changes would be the magazine, barrel, and maybe the recoil spring.

Just curious, it would make absolutely zero sense to try to convert a B to a C given the prices of .22 Short ammo these days.

I would go to rimfirecentral website and pose this question to John Stimson in the High Standard forum.

Interesting, the lighter weight does make sense given the Short has a lot less power than the Long Rifle. I had never heard this before.

This is pretty much the only forum I frequent, and my computer is on its last legs. Maybe after I get a new one (soon I hope).

I used to hear Dad and Uncle Larry talking about hunting rabbits with a .22 Short High Standard that Uncle Larry's dad had. unfortunately it got stolen the day my cousin was born, and he is 50 weeks older than I am.
