I'm a toolaholic.
Just can't help picking up cool tools.
It's a foot press for setting snaps, eyelets, buttons, and other stuff.
I do snaps and eyelets with the hammer tool.
Kind of noisy.
Don't know much about it.
Has no maker or label on it.
Anyone know what kind of dies I need for it???
Special size for different makes??????
Where I might get them???
Best part about this, it was free!!!!

Looks like a future foot powered reloading press:bigsmyl2:

It doesn't look like a harness riviter or spotter, as the ones I remember had their names cast into them, like C.S. Osborne or Russell, ect. It could be for riveting brake shoes or clutch linings. It appears to have trays too hold different sized rivets and die sets.

It looks like a lighter duty universal punch press.
You see them in small manufacturing places or a tradesman's shop.
In the Service, we had one very similar we used to set/put together snaps with.

Depending on the dies installed- it can punch holes in thin sheet metal or leather,
set snaps or the smaller and two piece brass rivets for leather belts & such.

The bigger, heavier duty ones are usually hydraulic.

I have NO idea who made it...but with the color, itlooks like it could have been made by RCBS. I know it most likely was not made by them.

I think that is a press for setting grommets in tarps and canvas items

the setting or holding bolt in the bottom of the top ram indicates to me that you can change dies for different operations be it installing snaps and grommets or possibly punching holes. its like many other tools from the past, made for universal applications and obsolescence was not built into them. I have an old cast iron foot stomp press from long ago primarily for setting rivets. can be used for relining brake pads and clutches or fastening just about any type of rivet in anything that will fit in the jaws or with the right dies punch holes in thin metal.

That ^
Looks identical to the one I used back in the eighties to set brake pad rivets. It was adjustable and could use different punch/die sets

Gee, it'd would take too much to modify that for boolit sizing.
