Sportsman’s Warehouse has the Walther 1911 copy for $299!
I couldn’t pass it up!

Walther 1911 22LR
I got one of these a few months ago and have shot around 500rd of different brands of 22LR ammo without any problems, fun gun to shoot.

Have what they call the Colt Gold Cup model. Sights were poorly aligned on the slide but a little jockeying got them reasonably aligned. NOT a true target pistol but a very accurate plinker and haven't had any real issues with it. Some parts interchange with 1911 parts. but if you take it apart watch out for the spring and plunger when removing the thumb safety. It is not captured like on a 1911 and will take off for parts unknown if you are not careful (don't ask). Keeping it under control during reassembly is fun, best way I found was to use a wood carpentry shim to hold it and slowly slide the shim out as you push down on the safety.

I really like mine. I have had it for several years now. It took a while but I finally found a spare mag for it. I like that it's a full size 1911 as everything matches a 1911 45acp except weight.

I am left handed so I’m going to want an ambidextrous safety, will a standard 1911 fit?

I got my gun today and it is a nice replica but not a true 1911.
I watched a YouTube video about disassembling it and I am glad that I did
Has anyone removed the safety?
Will a 1911 safety work!
I want to install an ambidextrous safety since I am left handed.

Disassembled the gun to lubricate and remove the safety.
And I lost the plunger for the safety but made a replacement.
The plunger is shorter on both ends than an original 1911 plunger so I will have to cut an original when I get one.
The safety is just like a regular 1911 so I ordered one and will install it when it comes in if it’s cool enough by then!
The slide stop is slightly different and easily is removed with a nonmaring punch .
It is fun to shoot!

Taylor Tactical carries parts for them, got replacement parts and an extra mag from them in the past. Watch if you dry fire it a lot, broke the firing pin on mine. Taylor had the parts and they were an easy replacement. Not sure if a 1911 safety can be fitted, but many 1911 parts fit. Taylor can probably advise you on that. A 1911 safety may work as is but they frequently require fitting to work properly.
