Some 12 Ga. Shot cups will be thick enough at the bottom that will allow enough grip for fair accuracy at close range.
Amazing. Thanks for the info.

24 gauge smoothbore or .58 rifle.

I read on several sites, people use them for 20ga RB loads. I have not found a wad thin enough to make it work. So I have a bag of .570 and .575 RB that I've not been able to figure out how to fire from my 20.

That means you need to find a nice 24 gauge flintlock fowler.

Try the Commander, available from ballistic Products.

If you are talking about using a .570 or .575 RB being used out of a 29 gauge muzzleloader smoothbore - I suppose a person could shoot 'em with a really thick patch but don't expect to hit much. A 20 gauge smoothbore ML has a .620 bore. In my 20 gauge flintlock French Fusil. I use either a .600 or .610 patched RB.
The .570 is better suited for a .58 caliber ML rifle. I.ve used many of them out of .58 cal Rifled Muskets with a thinner greased patch - decent accuracy at reasonable distances wit the traditional shallow groove rifling in the rifled muskets.
As far as slug in a shotgun shell - I don't reload shotgun so a .570 or .575 may have a use in one of the gauges.

Gonna run some Hornady .570 RBs through the Zouave to see if the old brass Tasco 4X is close to zero.
