Does anyone have this mold?

If so, could you please measure the bullet and tell me how long it is?

0.685" from a fairly new Lyman 452-374, 4 cav. I got it for 45 acp and a Webley 455. Great in the Webley, way too long for the 45 acp. Would also be great in 45 Colt, I expect.

What I'm trying to do is to compare the cartridge length for this bullet, which is listed on page 278 of the 4th Edition of Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook, to the length of the cartridge I've come up with using the MP 45-225 solid bullet.

Lyman's list the OAL for this bullet in 45 ACP as being 1.272. This is a round nose bullet.
Using the MP 45-225 and my HK45, I come up with an OAL of 1.180" I'd call the MP 45-225 a Wide Flat Nose.

I've measured the length of several bullets from my mold, the majority are coming in at 0.582"

When I subtract my OAL from Lyman's, 1.272 - 1.180 = 0.092.
When I subtract the length of the MP bullet from the numbers you've provided I come up with 0.685 - 0.582 = 0.103; 0.655 - 0.582 = 0.073.

This is telling me that my bullet and the Lyman bullet are extending into the case by approximately the same amount. From this I'm surmising that the powder charges listed for the Lyman bullet should give the MP bullet, the same approximate velocities.
( I know that nothing will be exact. Each gun is unto itself. I start low and work my way up.)

I now have more faith in the OAL that I came up with, using the MP bullet and that the powder charges I used are safe. (Actually the numbers for Acc 5 with the Lyman Bullet are both lower and higher that what I used. I do have some questions on my results and will need to retest those.)

My mid-1980s double-cavity mirrors JonB_in_Glencoe's and Larry Gibson's results... 0.655".
