For a friend in need of a lot of trigger time. He bought the Beretta without input from me. He hasn't fired a handgun (or any firearm to speak of) since Vietnam and after two visits to my home range is scaring the hell out of me. I suggested he find a 22LR autoloader that is very near the same dimensions and has similar controls to use to practice, practice, practice. Closest thing I have found so far is the Ruger LCP II Lite. Since it is a 22LR I'm looking for, I doubt there's many striker fired options available so single or (preferably) a double action could still would work as long as the sights, safety, slide stop and overall dimensions are comparable. I welcome suggestions.

Too bad Beretta doesn't make a 22LR top-end kit for the APX, I understand the 9mm version is getting high marks. I offer they are missing an opportunity.

I believe the SIG P 322 might be a possible candidate. They look and, more or less, feel a lot alike and not too terribly expensive, relative to today's prices, probably around $400 out the door.

The SIG is not striker fired, but has an internal hammer.

roysha, thanks for the suggestion. The Sig is taller by 1.1" longer by 1.4" and wider by .4" which is what I'm running into. The Ruger LCP II Lite is not as tall by .2", shorter by .4", so it'd work fine but for the grip being fat as a little piggy compared to the Beretta. I have suggested a trip to a couple of well stocked gun stores for a hands on comparison.
