So I have a 92 Win. coming and and planning on using the above bullet. Crimping in the top groove. It’s a rifle but I’ll only load 10 for CAS. I have Lyman 3118 but am concerned the bullets will push in without a proper crimp groove with smokeless powder. Thanks for your experience.

With the Lee FCD a crimp groove is made wherever you put it. The bullet doesn't move after that. Accuracy is improved.

I might have to get that die. Right now I am using 1960’s vintage RCBS dies.

The Redding Profile Crimp worked better for me than the Lee FCD. The Lees all went down the road and I use the Reddings for .32-20, .38,Special, .44-40 and .45 Colt.

Either will work fine with your old RCBS die set.

I load the Lyman 311008 bullet in my Marlin 1894 in 32-20. At first, I was concerned about the lack of a crimp groove but being that it's been one of the standard bullets for the cartridge since its inception I figured that it must work and it always has for me. I crimp over the front driving band using a set of RCBS cowboy dies and have never had a single bullet push back into the case. My load is 5.4 grains of Unique.

Ok, that’s good news. I am guess the old rcbs dies roll crimp so I’ll trim to the same length. I’ll use .314-313 diameter hard cast bullets as well.

not a matter of if just when (and how often)

Bullet set back in the mag tube is a real issue with the 32wcf due to such thin brass if not using black powder. You sound set on the particular mold you have but let me throw this out there. I have done quite a bit of casting/loading for the 32wcf. Tried a few lyman molds and an original winchester mold. All seemed to have one issue or another. I picked up a redding saeco #322. It casts a heavier bullet than your mold, 118grs w ww lead but it has a shorter nose and a good crimp groove so no chambering issues nor set back in the tube.

Been down that track - original winchester (and old Lyman combo tools) molds and hand tools were made for blackpowder - that Redding 322 looks the goods to me .
I have progressed backwards with my 32/20 (dont shoot it much) -- duplex load of a little 4227 under a full case of black powder no concertina-ing and it shoots clean enough - just need to clean at end of day - doing this way I can use my old tools if I like.

Accurate 31-105T also works well with 3.5 grains of Bullseye.

So 4.5 grs.unique and Lyman 311008 and 5.5 grains with Lee’s 93 grain RN plus a full wadcutter at 100 grains with single loading only all shoot well with bullets often touching at 25 yards. That’s all I needed to shoot a 8” metal plate at 100 yards with ease. Lots of fun. I tried to load the pic.

So a little update. I noticed all my Starline 32-20 brass is about 1.285 length. The one box of mixed Remington brass was at least 1.305 to over 1.315 which was all trimmed to 1.305 (recommended trim length). The Remington cases were loaded with Lyman’s 3118 to the recommended 1.59 OAL with seating/crimping done separately. I loaded my new to me 1892 Win rifle with 10 of those cartridges and cycled them through my action and no bullets pushed into the cases. I’ll do a live fire test to see if it works before I try them in a SASS match.
As another interesting note, on a short 32-20 Starline case, I loaded a dummy round with 3118 crimped into the top lube groove. It OAL was 1.64, it fed and cycle through my 1892. This just may be my SASS load but more testing needed.
