Does anyone know what kind of paint will stick to a synthetic stock? I have a Stevens model 200 in 300 Win Mag I would like to paint red white and blue in camouflage pattern.
Thanks
Dean

Any high end paint/automotive finish should do OK, but rag it down 2-3 times with acetone first.
I think it's Krylon that makes spray can paint just for plastics. I'd use it before any of the enamels in a spray can.

Try the Krylon, I've used their decoy paint on a stock. It works great.

I've painted about a dozen synthetic stocks and firearms using Krylon Camo paint from Walmart.

All have turned out great and lasted many years in the woods.

Krylon indeed does. I used the flat black to paint the intake on my truck and it's holding strong

I'd create an anchor pattern for the paint to grip.

Plus one for Krylon.
I’ve been painting hard use guns( not just AR15s) for decades using Krylon.
The first two were a Nylon 66 and a 94 Savage 12 gauge for river riding- No rust!

Jeez, a Nylon 66. I had a green one as a kid. No idea what happened to it as it was replaced by a Win 190. The amount of partridge, rabbits and woodchuck that 190 took would feed a logging camp through a winters cut

You should have kept that Seneca Green Nylon 66.
You could trade it for ten Winchester 190s now!
No disrespect for the Winchester- they are good .22s.

Thank you. I am getting pretty good at coming up with functional and attractive patterns tailored to where the firearm is going to be used.

I used to work with a guy who camoed a few guns.
He'd put down a base color, then to mask off for the design- for lack of a better word,
he'd put leaves and/or long stems of grass on the gun. Then paint that.

It surprised me, but it worked really well.
He was a Army sniper in his previous job, I figure he'd learned the technique there.
I told him more than once--- for a dogface, you aren't nearly as dumb as you look.:bigsmyl2:
