I stumbled across this ad in the 1990 Handloaders' Bullet Making Annual, Vol. I. It reminded me how much reloading has changed over the years. I remember when 9mm Luger was uncommon, and my dad and uncle would spend considerable time hunting down their brass. Most oddball calibers were strictly home-workshop productions. But while you couldn't buy them factory-loaded, you could buy the forming dies and other tools from the big manufacturers without much trouble.

I think this ad dates from just about the crest of that trend.

It raised a couple of questions for me. First, I was surprised at the minute diameter differences available in what seem to be the same bullet. For example, you can get the 50-450-FN in either 0.5160 diameter, or in 0.5163. I have measured cast bullets to the thousandths before, but never to ten-thousandths. I have one of their 44-370-FN molds, but have no idea if it is the 0.4505 or the 0.4507 version.

The other thing that struck me is, "8mm Lynx"? What even is that? It has managed to avoid my Internet searches--maybe because it's a Lynx.

Isn’t the 44-370-fn a .446. Sorry I can’t see your pages. Would have been interesting. Everything I have is modern. Now we search the internet; lgs must have been better equipped then!
