I rediscovered about 300 of these in my garage. They are .44-40, 225 grain. I'd like to shoot them in my Win 66, 73 and Schofield repros. I'd like a load tailored to this bullet weight, using one of the powders I have on hand, which are Unique, Bullseye, Blue Dot, Win 231, Clays and Power Pistol. These are for punching paper or plinking, not hunting. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd go buy some Trail Boss if that seems best appropriate.

I thought Oregon Trail 44-40 bullets were 200gr.

7 grs of Unique or 5grs of Bullseye with that bullet will be pleasant shooting in your lever guns.

6.0 grs WW231 would work, too.

Trail Boss does very well as far as accuracy.....6gr to 6.4gr, if you do decide to get that powder.

I used 6.5grs Unique under 225gr lead.
