I noticed the Novaks sight on my Taurus 1911 was lose. I have found the allen wrench that fits the front sight but is doesn't fit the rear. I can't back out the set screw to take the sight off. Somewhere I have 2 left hand twist drills. I was going to try that. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Sometimes a similar size Torx bit will work if you can’t find the proper Allen wrench.

This is why I have multiple sets of standard and metric Allen keys, and a plethora of ¼" bits-- to find one that fits.

I would find the closest fitting wrench or as TBG said a close fitting torx bit then apply heat to the screw with a soldering iron. Seems a lot of Loctite is being used these days, even on stuff that doesn't really need it.

Harbor Freight has a set of 1/4 bits (red plastic case) that fit a wide variety of fasteners. Handy to have!

I doubt that a Novak sight set screw is metric, mine are all inch. Now folks seem to love squirting red Locktite on sights, screws, dovetails and bases. I prefer a pencil torch, like a jewler uses, has a pin point blue flame. You just heat the screw itself directly, let it cool, then it should break loose easily with a proper fitting wrench.
When re-setting just clean screw and the hole with acetone and use blue, just a dab, on the screw shank threads only.
