I was cleaning up and my parent's house a lot of leftover stuff my dad had from his firearms/components/casting business (retired, not dead, thankfully!). He asked me if I had any use for these! After cleaning off all the dust, they look good. When I used to work for him in high school and college (late 80's to mid 90's) I can't tell you how many cases of IMR metal cans and Hercules cylindrical cardboard metal topped gunpowder cans I've carried and sold. I LOVED the sound of both those types jiggling in the cardboard box cases. Their metal tops clinked together with a certain tone for each type. It was just... Satisfying. Hard to explain.

Anyway, most of the IMR are full and sealed, as is the Alcan AL-7 which I had never dealt with before. The little ones are just cool, and the pink metal keg is interesting.

Take a close look at the orange IMR-4831 can (sealed)... It was printed/assembled upside down! Maybe worth something to right buyer, although I'll have to empty it to ship it if it's not local. I had never seen one like that before, and I've easily had many hundreds go through my hands over the years.

Thought you all would get a kick out of it!

Greetings,

I brought home a 3# 'pink' can of Red Dot myself. Lot #999. Yours is older.

I wrote to a friend at VISTA, who bought Alliant/Hercules, and he replied that they have not records of Lot #999. Best guess is it was made in the mid '60s.

Cheers,

Dave

I still use powder out of mine. I have several pounds of various Hercules and Dupont powders.

The 2400 can has probably 1/3 lb left in it that I’d still use.

Pretty awesome, thanks for sharing. That upside down one is pretty cool. I've never seen or heard of anything like that.

IMR might pay to have that one back for their home office.

You have a lot of shooting to do to get those empty so you can ship them. Enjoy.

I've only seen 1 other tin that was made upside down it was also an IMR can but I think it was brown but if I remember the can like yours was in excellent condition. You have some good powders there.

I have it on good authority that the upside down can was intended for the Australian market.................
