What is a pistol with a brace that they say is now illegal?

The fat lady isn't done singing on that one.
There's been some court action in the last couple days perhaps rolling some of that regulation back.

But basically they're ruling on a plastic brace sort of like a shoulder stock for short barrel, AR platform pistols.

I think it gets into the definition of a pistol and a rifle.
It's along the lines of putting a shoulder stock on a regular handgun, which is already illegal except for some of the old antiques.

The brace has been diverted from its original intention to being used as a means to a short-barreled rifle without paying the tax and going through the background check. But the ATF 10 years ago gave their approval then took it back several times. If the political morons that run this agency didn't want the brace they could have just said no in the beginning, instead of waiting till there has been an estimated 30 million have been sold. This is the same corrupt agency that is responsible for Waco, Ruby Ridge, organizing all yellow forms when it is illegal. buying almost 100 OV10 broncos to have their own air force to strafe US citizens, Fast and Furious and I am sure many other criminal acts. I was once sure they needed to be taken over by the FBI and run honestly but that ship has sailed.

The AR-15 pistil brace is a short extension on the buffer tube that has a u shaped piece that goes over the forearm. Originally built so a veteran could keep hunting with just 1 arm that worked. Lets them stabilize what is basically a gun almost as long as a 16" barreled AR carbine. Remove the brace and the ATF claimed the buffer tube is now a stock making it a short barreled rifle, same as with the brace.

Unlike a normal AR stock that extends this is fixed, it is super short so shouldering it is really difficult especially if you use a scope.

The last I heard, two pro-gun groups - the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), and Gun Owners of America (GOA) - sued the ATF and received preliminary injunctions from federal judges to block enforcement of the pistol brace ban.

Those two groups have announced that the injunctions only protect/apply to FPC members and GOA members.
