I can’t find 209’s local to me and I don’t reload enough shotshell to buy online and pay hazmat. What I can find is 209’s for muzzleloaders. Has anyone used these for shotshell reloading. And before I get all the hate mail I know all about how you shouldn’t change components with shotshell reloading. If you are loading low pressure, lite loads and sub a cheddite 209 for a win 209 there’s no problem. I’m only talking about the primers marked 209m (muzzleloader) for shotshell reloading. Thanks

Very few people are using the “special” 209 muzzle loading primers anymore. They are far less energetic than a shotgun primer is and don’t reliably ignite the powder in most in-line muzzle loaders. They may be OK in a side lock but I believe from reading and talking to most shooters they’ve gone by the wayside there as well. I used them and they were night and day different from shotgun primers. I’ve got around a hundred+ I can’t give away.

primers dont go bad if properly stored, just buy 5 bricks and you will be set
