Thinking about moving up to casting for center fire hand guns.
Was looking for a good 240-250 grain SWC like the Kieth bullet.
But most are out of my price range.
So I was wondering if anyone uses the Lee 240 grain SWC in 44.

I use the Lee TL429-240-SWC for low end 44 SPL up through mid range 44 magnum loads. Hard to beat the Lyman 429421 or RCBS 44-250 for heavy Skeeter 44 SPL loads or top end Keith 44 magnum loads.

I have used that Lee mould for thirty years for many different .44 caliber guns.
It’s one of my favorites.

regarding the Lee production in .44, over time i believe i have bought all of their 6 cavity models, including a single hp. I probably don't have great expectations, but they have always worked better than I was (and am) capable of shooting.

I use a Lee 240 tc tl (tumble lube), in a 6 cavity mould. It works well, makes a big pile of bullets fast. I started with liquid alox lubing swirling in a butter tub. I now powder coat them and shoot them full size, for plinkers and moderate loads.
I like the Lee 310 RF GC for hunting.

One of the first molds I bought when I started casting in 74. Cast and shot well.

I have 2, 44 cal. molds I used a lot. The Lyman 429421 and the TL430-420-SWC. I normally use the Lyman with my homemade lube and dip lube or PC the Lee. Up until I got a couple Ranch Dog molds I used these two exclusively for 44 Special and 44 Magnum, mild to wild...

The Lee .429-240GC was the first Boolit I cast in quantity I did it with a little pot on the stove with a ladle. Shot hundreds of them thru my M29 back in 1977-8 That gun and boolit would routinely shoot 1.5" groups at 25 yards. and those were 23 gr of H110 loads so near max. I also used that boolit without a gas check in that revolver in .44 Special Cases. I still have all the cases, and I have unopened boxes of Winchester .44 Mag Cases as well. just saw them yesterday digging around in my Ammo Cabinet.

The good thing about .44 Magnum/Specials is that if you just tone them down a little bit they will last forever. I have cases that were ran as Mid Range loads (900-1000fps) that have been loaded 10+ times and are still good.

Also Range pick up .44's are almost always once fired so they are good to go after a trip thru the tumbler.

It is my favorite Caliber!
