Never saw a Herter's lube sizer but the heated portion sorta looks like the expander for shot shells in a MEC press. Possible some sort of hull conditioner, check diameter against shotshell sizes.

Not 100% sure how they were to work but that’s a heater element used in reloading paper shotgun shells. Guessing that one is 12ga. Think it’s was used to recondition the hull prior to reloading.

Can you measure and post the diameter of the heating element? Thank you.

It's a paper shotshell (Ironer) reconditioner. I still shoot paper cases and have a couple of other brands.
It may be worth something to the black powder guys? The paper cases are not as good as they were. The new cases don't last long enough to iron.

Ok it heats up & is .730.
I think I'll use the base for a powder measure stand....
and just put the element on ebay....i just need some money back for my tattoo removal.

the main thing is a ton of loose MEC parts that I'm going to have to identify.
The guy was unorganized
also got a shot maker & 80 lbs of shot...the shotmaker I'm a little afraid off, it gets hot very quick..

I also got this Wells press "professional model C", has screw on shell holders....I'm keeping this, CH4D does not make a replacement ram...i contacted them...the ram is hollow so i think i'll just drill it out some and put a set screw to hold the holders...its too beefy to not use.

Wells/Herter's same press. I have LOT of the other type of shell holders for those presses. They are held in with a set screw and look like an oversized version of the current interchangeable shell holders of today.

The Herter's screw on shell holders are 7/8x14 thread on the outside and 5/8x18 thread on the inside.
I'm not sure that helps you any?

reloader X, those threaded shell holders run hot and cold… there is really very little demand for them, so sometimes they can be had pretty cheaply… I kept seeing them on eBay when I was looking for the other kind for my two Herter’s presses.

As for the banned one whose name must not be mentioned, he’s the honcho over on ARTCA.com, the forum for the Antique Reloading Tool Collectors Association if you want to ask him a question.
