Does anybody happen to have a copy of this edition?

I am looking for a specific article that I had but can no longer find about roundball and shot loads in the .444.

"The 444 Formula For Survival" by Robert K. Sherwood
Printed in:
Handloaders Digest 10th Edition, pgs 33-37

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

With the .444 Marlin, which isn't that much different from a .45/70!
5/8 oz. 7.5shot 12.5gr Unique with AA Winchester .410 shot cup topped off with a Gas Check turned backwards and crimped in place, velocity 1399 fps pattern was good enough to take squirrels at 20 yards.
Another idea to make the rounds feed, was to top off the load with a .440" roundball run through a .430" sizing die. This gives one a roundball and a shotload in one.
Another load called for THREE .451" roundballs sized to .430" over 25gr H-335 giving a total weight of 412gr at 1689fps. This load was capable of putting all three balls on target out to 60+ yards. (Deer vital)
On a similar note THREE .440" roundballs sized to .430" gave a total weight of 281gr over 25 gr of H-335 gave a velocity of 1725fps.
The now oblong roundballs seemed accurate enough for small game as well. Here's a load for that:
.451" roundball sized to .430" over 9.0gr Unique gave a velocity of 1378 fps.
.451" rb over 4.4gr Unique gave a velocity of 709fps. Each roundball weighed 137 gr.
So where did I get all this?? "The 444 Formula for Survival" by Robert K. Sherwood, Handloader's Digest 10th Edition!
I would say what the .444 can do, the .45/70 should be able to give similar results, only maybe not 'quite' as well with regards to the roundball loads, etc. But it would be worth experimenting. Sherwood also made the comment that ANY/ALL .44 loads may be loaded SAFELY in a .444 case, meaning I can use the minutest .44 Russian load up to the mightiest .44 Magnum load safely in the .444 and then boost things up to the .444 loads as well. Talk about a well rounded survival caliber!
Now you see why I'm just itching to get a Marlin .444 Marlin this spring. The cash should be in hand in about two weeks! The wife and I just finished the taxes tonight and we all get some cash to play with this year along with all the necessary bills being paid and some going into savings/vacation fund too! I LIKE the IRS this year!
