i ordered this stuff by mistake hoping to get some more brass to use, how ever has anyone used Starline 45 colt blank brass for loading with bullets? could you use it for light loads with lighter bullets? or shot shell loads?

Their blank brass has enlarged primer vent holes. If loaded with bullets expect backed out primers and a locked up cylinder. Could load with wax bullets for fast draw practice...

You can use them for shotshell loads. I have done so with 5-in-1 blank brass and it works with no ill effects. Just need to load a light charge.

A friend had some that we loaded as regular brass. They shot just like regular brass with no issues.

The 45 colt case should set back as usual and reseat the primer. Where you have an issue is loading extremely light loads in a regular case that fire the projectile but don't have the energy to move the case rearward and reseat the primer. Then the high primers will lock up a revolver. But the larger primer holes allow all the pressure from the primer to get into the case so the primer doesn't back out. I would be concerned if it was a 44 mag with hot loads but cas loads should be fine.

Enlarged flash holes present no problems. They do not increase pressure nor is there any evidence of increased pressure within the primer/primer pocket. They will actually reduce/prevent primer setback.

I have always maintained that some old tool and die maker decided on final flash hole size based on his experience to keep the core punch pin from continuously breaking. The load data came after the case was created.

Starline's own caution is not to use for live ammo.
