I bought a S&W M&P 10mm
Shoots great
But I have a problem , I gave my brother back his Leupold DeltaPoint
I installed a Vortex Venom I had
Still shoots great
With the Leupold DeltaPoint it shot about 2" low at 50 feet with the sight UP maxed out
But with the Vortex Venom , with the sight UP maxed out
It now ( with the Vortex Venom Red Dot ) shoots about a foot low at 50 feet

I was shooting LEE 401-175 TC at 1100 FPS with AA #7 with both Red Dot Sights

I am going to order the NOE 403-198-WFN

But I was wondering if a 200 gr cast bullet going maybe 800 FPS
Would give the bullet enough barrel time to raise the POI at least a foot at 50 feet ?

Or would it be possible to cant the Vortex Venom Red Dot with a shim ?
I know how to do it with a scope
I have never tried it with a Red Dot sight
Can it be done ?

Thanks
John

Soda (pop) can shim under the rear screws, try it!

Johnch, This is what I have been using. https://opticsfactory.com/red-dot-sight-for-berreta/opticshim

Optic Shim is made to fit between the red dot and the mounting plate.
Fits: Burris Fastfire II, III, Docter Red Dot Sight & Insight
Also Fits: Eotech MRDS, Sightmark, Meopta. All trademarks mentioned belong to their respective owner, this optic shim is made by ADE as a mounting accessory for the mentioned optics
Also Fits: Ade Advanced Optics RD3-006, RD3-009, RD3-011, RD3-012, RD3-013, RD3-015
Scope base shims Tolerance +/-.005 Taper 1.0 degree
Depending on the handgun, some handguns need THIS 1degree shim to give extra range of elevation across a wide range of firearms (such as the 1911). Should you feel any resistance from the mechanism whilst zeroing the elevation please fit the shim between the sight and the mount with the thickest part at the rear.

IMHO your issue is the optics cut or something you have done in the mounting.

The difference in the sites is simply amount of. Adjustment each has.

I would re mount and inspect the work. If nothing found contact manufacturer there IS A PROBLEM.

Seems weird to run out of adjustment and be shooting that low at 17 yards. Something is seriously wrong.

I have mounted the Vortex Venom on a few pistols and have never needed to adjust the dot more than a few inches at 75 feet.

And to get that 3/4" 5-shot group at 25 yards, I used 10.5 grains of Blue Dot behind a 200 grain Speer Gold Dot. 1200 fps.

My quick math shows 1 foot low at 50 feet is 72 MOA low. And that's with the sight cranked all the way up? If these were iron sights, you would need minimum a .100" taller rear sight, or lower front sight. There's something royally messed up on your setup, and I don't think a shim is going to help.

I run that boolit with that gun
I have no problem hitting the target. I think a different powder tweaking the load might help

You really think it's going to move it multiple feet at basically 15 yards though? I sure don't.

I was being polite and yes, in my gun the powder and charge makes a huge difference
