I bought a Marshall-Jackson English style banking chair at a auction. It needed refinishing so I sanded all the finish off and put a couple coats of Tung oil on it.

Does any one know about Marshall-Jaskson and how old this might be?

I'm a sucker for old wooden furniture, especially oak. I've refinished many pieces. It looks like Marshall-Jackson was established in 1874 in Chicago. That's a great looking chair.
There's this:

Pretty chair. I'm sure you are proud of it.

Any chance there is a date code under the seat?

There is stenciling under the seat but no decals. It says "conference room fourth floor annex" and "1232". Oh unless 1232 means something. That's in yellow ink or paint and the 4th floor part is in black.
