since there is no discussion in swapping and selling I brought this here.
someone is looking for one. I had been looking for one of these guns at a fair price for a few decades. with ruger now owning marlin I doubt ruger will ever build the 96 ever again in. any caliber. the marlin 39a works great and is plenty accurate. and its doubtful ruger owned marlin will ever produce the 39a but they are much easier to find than a 96 in a 22 cal. the 96 seems to be about as rare as a marlin 1894m in 22 mag
does anyone have a 96 in 22 or 22 mag? whats your experience with it?

I got to handle/fondle one in .44mag the other day...being a bush hobbit,I was drooling and it has haunted my dreams every night since, why they arent still being cranked out and also made in .223 is beyond me.

I have one in 17HMR. I don't think they are all that special. I also have a Henry in 17HMR which I think is easier to like and find. Of course Henry's come in 22lr and 22WRM.
