Neat slow motion of video of fire lock bullet hitting a gelatin block.

These recordings were made with 20000 frame per sec with Photron Nova professional high speed camera. It is played back in double speed. Watch how the lead musket ball leaves the muzzle, flies towards the target and hits the ballistic gelatin.
Slow motion recordings by to Photron and their Hungarian representatives, RIEL Elektronikai Ltd.

Very cool. You had to be a real man back in the days of the matchlock. Holding that long and accurately while you wait for the final ignition as a small explosion goes off a couple of inches from your face. It's a wonder they could hit anything at all.

It always puzzled me that a slower boolit has more penetration power than a faster one.
If under water, most modern rifle bullets wil not go very deep or explode on impact of the water.
While the slower most black powder rifles penetrate the water more deeper and still can do damage...

When hit by a 308 in the shoulder or leg it can be repaired....hit by a black powder rifle, you are lucky if you would survive?

Impressive video! thanks
