I recently finished making my second and last rifle. It's a break action .25-20 WCF that I made from a block of 1144 Stress-proof I salvaged out of the scrap bin at the machine shop where I worked about 50 years ago. I bought a barrel blank from Gun Parts Corp. and made the rest.

The rifling is 1 in 10, which is faster than needed for the cartridge, but I managed a bench-rested 2" group at 40312298312300312301312302312303312304 yards with iron sights. My eyes are good for distance, but the sights were real fuzzy. I'll try again with my reading glasses and see if I can do better.

Nice project ! Your barrel latch is quite simple and looks to work well enough. Nice looking wood also,
Thanks for sharing .

I like it! Clever design. It's shame it's your last.

Unique beautiful rifle. It would be nice to walk the woods with.

Those skills are available for the searching. You probably have skills I wish I had.

Most of what I know is the result of having lived 74 years. ;-)

Nice! It’s kinda reminiscent of the late 1800s Maynards to me. That’s some fine machine work.

Here's a group shot at 25 yards with the iron sights. I had trouble discerning the tops of the front and rear sights. Haven't thought of an excuse for the flier... . I also need a taller front sight. The rear can't go any lower.312718

Yesterday, I added a lever and knob to the locking pin. Much easier to use and I like the looks of it.313148313149

wow! I wish that I could do something like that. I actually have a small mill and a lathe but the engineering and part is beyond me excellent job
