Mine weigh 270gr, with lube and GC installed, when cast of 20:1.
Powders on hand: Unique, 2400, 4227, #9, 296, H110, TiteGroup.
6.5" 29-2.

Deer hunting application, so thinking between 1k and 1100 fps?

Very much appreciate your suggestions.

I have loaded 21.5 grains of H110 with that boolit, though mine ,IIRC, weighs more like 263-265 grains with my alloy. However, I have been using the PB version much more, and 18.5 grains of 2400 does quite well with that in my 629 and Redhawk Revolvers.

In the 44 Special, I use 7.0 grains of Unique or 7.5 grains of Herco with this boolit.

I use the plain base and large hp powdercoated. In the 44 special I use 8 grains of Longshot , Starline brass and WW primers in a Ruger as this is a tier 2 load and the same bullet with Starline brass and CCI 350 and 23 grains of H110 in a SRH. These work well in mine but work your way up.

16 grains of #9 should get you right where you want to be. 20 grains of 4227 might be 100-150 fps faster. this is in 44 mag

Elmer Keith loaded 18.5gr of old H2400 in the balloon head .44spl. He dropped that to 17.5gr in solid head cases. For less than full loads I have always kinda treated the .44Mag as a balloon head .44spl but a lot stronger. I really like 18gr of A2400 under a 240 to 250hr swc. It shoots really well with machine cast 240gr swcbbs in my Rossi R92 16" carbine. JHMO-YMMV

Id be more interested in accuracy and then work on velocity. I had a plain based version of this bullet (sold the mold) that I bought to use in a 10" bbl'd contender. It was extremely easy to find accurate loads with that combo.

When I wanted something a little harder hitting I'd use 11.5gr of unique. Typical 5-shot groups @ 50yds.
