Great article in this month's *Rifle* mag on the 38 W.C.F. in lever actions. It's one of your best. Al Miller's *8x57 Magnum* article was also a great one.

I enjoyed your Iwo Jima trip article, too. An old friend of mine, now dead, was there for the battle and its aftermath. Here's a story he told me: he was exploring in one of the many tunnels in Mt Suribachi. In the dark, he stepped in something. He pulled his boot out of the "something" and flicked on his cigarette lighter. The something was a rotting Japanese soldier, and my friend had stepped inside the soldier's chest cavity.

When I was in Okinawa in the early 80's we would still find old mines floating around off shore. Throw a couple bleach bottles at them and report. Out would come the JDF and they'd shoot it till it blew up. It was common to find bones and what not in the caves and hillsides. Again, you'd report it and someone would come out and you'd spend hours there. Better to let them rest and let a National find them.
