Hi Folks,

Any Browning BAR shooters out there? I’m thinking of buying a BAR Mk 3 DBM with the Turkish walnut stock. I have three questions: 1) will shooting lubricated (not powder coated) cast bullets cause problems with the gas system, 2) is it fairly easy to disassemble and clean the gas system, and 3) will mild cast bullet loads operate the action reliably? My goal is a 200 gr boolit at 1400 fps with H4895.

Thanks, Tom

Not sure a load with 4895 under a 200 gr bullet [assuming 30w?] at 1400 fps will function the action. Only way to know is to try. Might have to use a slower burning powder for higher gas port pressure at that velocity. I've been shooting lubed cast GC' bullets in many different gas guns [M1, M1/M2 Carbines, M14/M1As, FALs, HKs, FN-49s, AKs, SKSs, etc.] since '68 w/o any problems with the gas systems.
