Been eyeing a Taurus 44 6.5 with ported barrel stainless. Just curious as to the true value to one. I know none are available and seems all things revolver and lever have increased in price. The guy is asking $725 and just curious if that is fair market or not. Thanks. Pretty sure it's just like this one.

They are running about the same price on Gunbroker, however I watched one listed for $725.00 and there were no bids on it.

I am a HUGE taurus fan and have the same gun blued but with the 4" barrel. Scheel's Sporting Goods here routinely has them new for $499. Stainless usually $20-30 more. Having seen a 6" lately. Did run across a used great condition 4" stainless today for $450 at a local smaller gun store. Cabela's also has them pretty often and has everything listed online.

They are out of stock all over the net. Armslist has one listed for 700. Not trying to justify purchasing but don't want to throw money away. See some 4" versions in stock. Ruger revolvers been tough to find as well.

You can find a S&W 29 for another $200.

Most of his smiths are in the $1000-1200 range. Pretty sure I seen a 629 in 44. He also got a 4" Taurus 44 that would be $525-550.

Well don't know what it sold for but it disappeared as well as the new satin finish 4" version that was $600

.44 Magnum Taurus revolvers are pretty rare around here so I don't know what would be realistic. I'm a Taurus fan but $725.00 is really high for anything with their name on it. That same money should get you a nice Ruger Redhawk, and maybe a 629 if you're lucky.

If you are ok with single action, you should be able to find a nice Super Blackhawk for less than that. It can certainly be ported if that is what you want.

I love Blackhawks though I haven't seen one local in 44 mag for sale less than 800-1000 in a while

Around here, you should be able to get a decent used SBH in a country gun shop for $600 or so. Prices jump way up in the city.

Not to hijack the thread but are there any issues with the ports and cast boolits?
I have been on the lookout also for a 4" Taurus 44 or Tracker...

By all means, that is good info to know.

Is yours the textured finish and what size barrel?

I am not a big fan, but I would say that for a near new Raging bull $725 is not crazy high. The new ones run much higher, despite the statements to the contrary, $ 888-1024 hereabouts. I see lower prices on line, but the kicker is that they are not available. "We can order you one." But when it will arrive and how much it will cost is anyone's guess . So, if you find one, and you want it, you have to decide if you want it enough to buy it.

I have the 454 Raging bull. It is very accurate, 1.5" groups regularly at 50 yds. I shoot only cast in it and Don't have any problems with the ports.

If I'm not mistaken, the Raging Bull is a different and more expensive gun than the model 44 that the OP is talking about. MSRP on the Taurus site for the 44 is $729.00, which should translate to $600 something real world.

This one had a polished finish of which I'm not sure Taurus does anymore.

They got in. 4" tracker. Asking 550. Wanting to try deer hunting with one so I was actually looking for longer barrel. They have a rough 629 for a grand

I have been looking for a 4" and found one with a black oxide finish and no hammer lock so I assume its older for $600. Is the black oxide a good finish vs the new satin stainless. A new satin finish is about the same price.

I doubt you are going to find a much better price than that for any new 44 magnum, and that appears pretty good compared to other Taurus's online.

I personally like 4" to 6" barrels, and in particular 4 5/8" (blackhawk), and 5" barrels. Since you say you wanted a longer barrel I did a quick Gunbroker search and found this nice new Blackhawk with a 6 1/2" barrel in 41 magnum. With their aluminum frame they are slightly lighter than the 44 magnum super Blackhawk. They are phenomenal hunting handguns, one of the best ever made.

Alternatively I found this used super Blackhawk 44 magnum 7 1/2" for a really good price

If you don't buy it I'm sure someone else will. Magnum revolvers are very much en vogue right now.

Well I picked up the 8 3/8 Taurus. $670 out the door. What do y'all think of scope mount such as this? https://www.brownells.com/optics/rings-mounts/scope-bases/weig-a-tinny-mini-revolver-scope-mount-for-taurus/
Says not recommend for sights weighing more than 3.5 oz
