What kind of tang sight was used on the 1881 Large frame? What configuration, and did the bolt clear the sight, when cycling, or did the sight have to fold down to cycle?

Any input, or info greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon, any Ballard sight was available for the 1881 as well as the Lyman "M" code tang. My 1881 wears a Lyman 21 coded for a WInchester and works super. As for the bolt clearing, I cannot testify. Ditto on Marlin Owners Collector Forum. They will know. Later, moodyholler

moodyholler,

Is the 'M' the same as 'M3'?

I believe M3 is a Marbles for later Marlin lever actions. Will check Strobel's book and get back tomorrow. Later, \moodyholler
