I have a sporterised m98 in 7x57, it appears to like longer heavier jacked bullets like 175gr RN so, what Lyman, RCBS or Lee mold would some of you recommend?

The most accurate mold I have in 7mm is the RCBS 7-168-Sp. I can generally shoot 1.5" groups with this bullet at 100 yards without much effort in my 7x57 Mauser. When I do put in the effort, both reloading & shooting, I can get smaller groups. Other molds that I've gotten high quality cast bullets from in different calibers are Lyman, NOE and Saeco. I've had bad experiences with Lee molds, so I no longer use them.

Most accurate 7mm cast bullet (for military 7x57s) I've ever used is the original RCBS 28-168-FN. Unfortunately, not made for some time.

The Mid South LEE 7 mm Soupcan shoots in my 7 mm Rem Rolling Block. They were listed in a custom mold section on thier site.

Just looked on the Mid South Shooter's Supply website site:

They have 6 cav 7mm Soupcan molds in stock and on clearance for $42.23.

The old Lyman 287308 mold works great in my old 95 Mauser with a .286 bore

Mark,

Not sure a 130gr bullet will shoot well in my rifle, thanks anyways.

Noe makes some heavies that work with long throated 7x57's. Both in 287 and 289 diameters.

I have a brand new 7×57 . Actually I'm going to have my guy stamp it 275 Rigby .......

So far the 7mm 168 @178 gr has been sort of lacking.
The throat and twist are kind of a PITA here however the 287-154 Hunter from NOE delivered instant positive direction..... unfortunately it's only 154 and I want to use all of the twist . I may have to modify the RCBS to get what I want ..... Or buy a 289-198 NOE .

I've had great luck with the #287405. A Guy Loverin design. Still 200+ sized .288 & lubed with Tamerack. With go to PC when this batch is gone. Shoots great in My old M93 with .285 bore.

Of course it's now out of production, they due show up on fleabay.
