Tthe scammer hacks a friend's FB page, then sends messages like these:

310750

310751

310752

310753

NOTICE the misplaced comma: "What'sup?", the use of the word "have" instead of "has", and then "gets expired" instead of expires, these are dead giveaways that English is not their first language, and think about it, if they can't get into their Facebook, how did they get into their messenger????

I'd have thrown in some comments about their questionable relationship with their mother.
But I can be crass.

Don't do ‘book of faces’, and gee, my life’s not over, the sun still shines, birds still sing.

A very simple way to check is have them call you and talk. You'll know right away if it is your friend or not.

I'm on there due to business and have had several friends get hacked. Most probably this way... Never ever "help" someone like this.

That might liable you to a whole new scam!

The scammer is attacking a bunch of this FBooker's friends, in my home town. I asked 3x who was our HS principal, EVERYBODY in my age group give or take 20yrs knows the answer to this one.

They tried a similar thing with a couple of friends of mine. Both had passed away a few years before so I just reported the impersonation.
Idiots at FaceBook told me they'd get in touch with my friends to confirm their identities before the took any action against the imposters.

I recently had a fella tell me he wanted me to send him a "friend request". I replied that he could send me one, and he said he couldn't do so? I told him how to do it, and never heard from this person again. It was in a private car collector group, so not sure what it was about, but it sounded fishy to me.

gee thats nothing like the million dollar sweepstakes I won, too bad I didn't have the money to send to secure the winnings.

one thing I always do with electronic devices is never open or respond to anything if at all possible

Scammers screen shot your picture and then open a fake account in your name. People who have their friends listed publicly end up having the scammer contact their friends. I told one scammer that I heard he was locked up on a child porn charge, and I was praying for him.

I got a message from a person on market place that a friend of mine died and a link to open to see a picture of the dead person. I knew it was a scam or virus and did not open it.
