Looking for recommendation for a 8x57 mold, it will be used for plinking in model 98's in 8x57 and 8mm-06?
Thanks

The LEE offering is never a bad choice.

I use the Lee mold, it shoots very well.

I use the RCBS 08-170-FN gas checked. My 98 really likes this one at about 1800-1850fps.

My bullet of choice for the 8x57 is the Saeco #081. My second choice would have been the RCBS 08-170-FN, but that mold was discontinued a long time ago.
I mostly used the Lee 175 gr for plinking.
It is a good Boolit and heavy enough to hunt smaller deer with.
But for Long Range I use a heavier slug like a 198 gr , I think by NOE

I also like the RCBS 08170 FN.

dabrown,
8x57's can sometimes be a challenge depending upon the amount of erosion right in front of the chamber.
I'd try the Lee mold first and if it worked for the 8-06 but not in a 8x57 then maybe a heavier mold mite work for the 8x57.
Hard to forecast.

I would like to thank everyone for their time and input, I think I will go with the LEE for now and look for the RCBS (they always turn up eventually).

This would be my suggestion also, especially if you plan on loading the magazine with 5 rounds.
