Who here remembers a company called "Vic's For Guns" in Galveston, TX? I remember buying surplus ammo from them in the 1960's. Most was WWII surplus - 8mm Mauser, German manufactured, ball, tracer, semi-AP; 7.7mm Arisaka - reloads from .30-06 brass and Argentine or British bullets; 9X19 mm - German scintered bullets or Canadian military, and the list goes on. Shipping was by Railway Express. I remember that the 9mm ammo was $3.50/100 for corrosive or $4.00/100 for non-corrosive.

That works out to around $35-$40/100 in today’s dollars.

The 7.7 Arisaka ammo was always a surprise as to what you'd get. I'm sure they were reloaded with whatever surplus bullets they could find. Sometimes it was straight ball, other times it was tracer, even ran across some incendiary and explosive.
