Market/Interest for Core molds

Just curious if there is much interest in core molds using Lee 6 cav mold blanks. Having some thoughts about becoming a vendor sponsor again and machining some core molds. Any and all input is welcome. Thanks!

I use Corbin core molds weekly, anything lighter or that cast more than four cores at a time would be welcomed! Regards, JH

I have one made by MP. I love it. Almost as good as a magma mold for master caster.

Would be interested in some core molds of about 0.216 to 0.218 diameter cores. Prefer 4 not 6 cores to mold. Cast core weights to be about 90, 110, 165, and 130 Grains for molds. These core weights would support my Swaged Bullets using 5/16 Copper tubing for jackets ranging from 147 grains to 230 Grains for use in .308 diameter swaged jacketed bullets.

I currently use Corbin Core Molds for making .224 and .308 projectiles.

As with all purchases, price will have an impact on interest but I’d definitely like to know more. What sizes and weights are you thinking of making?

As far as sizes and weights, whatever can fit in a Lee 6 cavity mold block. Smaller diameter up to about .250ish I think would allow for 11 cavities. Obviously anything larger than than would be limited to 6 cavity. Length of core, by my simple measurements off one of my mold block, would be limited to around 1” max. Mixing and matching diameters and lengths would not be an issue.

I will reiterate that I am just gauging interest now. I have a fellow machinist friend that is on the fence about selling his cnc mill. We are going to sit down in a few weeks and discuss this business venture. Several topics will be discussed including pricing. I appreciate everyone’s input so far. Keep it coming!

Would this be an adjustable mold for weight?

I have a Lee 6 that I drilled and reamed to cast .187 cores. A 6 banger will drop a pile of cores quickly, the process is faster than casting bollits, they don't have to be perfect out of the mold, you're going to squirt them to a weight anyway!
I think price will be the make or break, wish you the best!

Adjustable molds are definitely not out of the realm of possibilities.

I just finished making a few core molds from the Lee blanks. A two year endeavor acquiring a mill, tooling, etc. Not very many options out there for core molds. Not a fan of the Corbin 4 cavity I have. Clunky, but it does work. Anyway, I would have gladly dished out $ for a couple Lee molds from someone who could offer them with a reasonable turn time. The 11 cavity .185 I made makes a couple hundred cores in short order. Far faster than the Corbin by a long shot.

Agreed. I have owned several Lee 6 cav core molds and a handful of custom Lee adjustable core molds in the past and they makes piles of cores very quickly.

I would think there would be a market.
When I started into swaging, a few years ago, I looked for a core mold. I ended up with a Corbin.
It's recommended to be used with a ladle pour. I have bottom drop pots and found it to be cumbersome.
