Hi guys I have been eyeballing these two molds lee C312-155-2R (90741) and the CTL312-160-2R (90579). I was wondering if anyone has the two of them and if they are basically the same size bullet. I am looking to cast them up for some 300BLK and 7.62x39 and PC them for a semi. I have heard ok results on the 155 grain but honestly nothing on the 160 tumble lube. I was under the impression the tumble lube bullets where better for Powder Coating. Any thoughts would be great. Probably the same and I am looking into it to much but I have some time.

I have the 155 mold but not the 160. Just looking at the lee mold chart it looks like the 160 is a touch longer though.

Essentially, the only difference is that the 155 gr. has a conventional lube groove and the the 160 gr. is a tumble-lube design. I've have both and the 160 gr., when PC'd, seems a little more accurate in my Argie Mauser.

yes, in the context to your question, they are basically same, they both have the tapered nose, a chief design feature that makes them function about the same.

I've shot the Lee TL 160 in 30-06 with a double coating of 45-45-10 and was happy with the results. With that said, I prefer tradition lube grooves for Rifle.

I cast both from Lee six cavity moulds. Both shoot well PCed over 4227 in my 16" 300 Black AR
The C312-155 lubed with 45-45-10 groups under a MOA in my 308 Ruger RSI over H4895.
The C312-160 contacts the lands before the C312-155. You can't go wrong with either in the 300 Black.

The c312-160 is a stronger design.

Thanks guys its like anything else I guess I will end up with both molds before I am done.

More research resulted in finding out the 160g bullet is .030 longer than the 155g.

I actually prefer the 160 if I am going to PC the Boolits.
Just because the lube grooves are not used if not lubed.
The same goes for most of Lee's tumble lubed Boolits that I PC.
But the 155 works great if PC'ed also.
It is just your choice
