HELP Identifying Lyman Dies
I have two Lyman expander dies that say M1 and the other says M-1.
The expander button on the one has the number 24 stamped on it.
Any help in identifying the differences in the two or are they the same but marked differently?

Thanks,
Terryt

Those are “M” dies, probably of different production vintages.

I’ve seen them in two different lengths, as well, no doubt to accommodate pistol and rifle length cases.

The expander marked “24” is for .243 or 6mm caliber cast boolits. The “M” dies expand the case mouths a little larger than the standard expander buttons in resizing dies to accommodate the recommended 0.002” or so over groove diameter that cast boolits are typically sized to in the lubrisizer. The insert should also slightly flare the shell mouth for insertion of the boolit without scraping or other damage.
