View Full Version : Loadmaster running again
I haven’t had a need to use a progressive press in almost 2 years what with covid plus the shortage of supplies. But when I tried to start a large run of 9 mm several weeks ago everything was bogging down. I watched several videos on setting it up- gunblue was the best. I needed to clean it all up and replace a worn spring and a plastic part which I had in the parts bin but got it running smoothly again today.
I decap off this press but do everything else including priming on th LM. I tend to do large runs on it: 9, 45, 223. Other calibers for pistol and all other rifles are done on a single stage.
One of the best mods was getting a small LED light for sewing machines to stick on the frame. I can see clearly into each case for the powder level.

Inline fabrication makes improvements for your loader including the led light. I have theirs for my Dillon.
Thx for that tip

I think running an extra powder die I had at the priming station to properly center 9mm cases in the shell plate was a big step but I also like light and used a dental style mirror so I could see into the case from my normal loading position.

How many years ago did you make that video? I've probably watched it 10 times since I started hanging out on the forums. Always entertaining, and yet just this month I noticed the rising case feeder, which Lee still uses on the new 6000 press.
I wonder how come Lee didn't use your idea of a tube in a tube and make an electric collator as an option years ago. Yes more money, but people can use it as is and save for the options.....but they never offered those options.
So folks....I got to copy the master and do the same thing feeding .223 on the 6000.....and it works great.

Now I need to see if I can keep it simple and quick changing calibers to .308, .45acp, 9mm, .40s&w, and .357mag. Wish me luck!:)
Seems to me, from jmorris's Loadmaster experiment, that most can be interchangeable between Lee's two presses.

The best improvement I ever did to my loadmaster was the roller handle from Inline Fabrication. But, it’s been retired to a box in the closet for a few years now and the handle is on my Lee Classic Turret press. The Loadmaster has since been replaced by a Dillon 550B. I bought the Dillon used for a fair price and cleaned and tuned it up and it’s been trouble free ever since.
