I had my Tokarev TT33 to the range today, and broke the firing pin, for the second time since I have owned it. The first time I attributed the breakage to dry-firing (which I am careful not to do anymore.) Apparently the firing pin is a weak spot in the design. Has anyone else had this trouble, and what can be done about it other than order a dozen from Numrich?

Aftermarket firing pin are available for my CZ 52. It looks like they're also available for the TT-33:

It looks just like the one I bought from Numrich a couple of years ago. Apparently this is a common repair for the Tokarevs.

If this happened to be my Tokarev needing a fire pin replacement I would also replace the firing pin spring. It contributes to softening the "battering" that the fire pin suffers during routine use.

Would it help to put it in a toaster oven for an hour at 400F? To temper it a little bit and get rid of the brittleness?

I thought about that, but am not enough of a metallurgist to know if it would get too soft.
