I know the standard reply to using jacketed data with cast is "no way". But is this also true with lower pressure cartridges? Specifically looking at the 35 Remington. I want to work up a load with the Lee 358-200 bullet (bullet is powder coated and gas checked) and have a few lbs of Win 748 on hand. The cast data I found with that powder was keeping it in the 1600 fps range, I was really hoping to stretch that to the 1900 range. Am I foolish for pursuing this velocity with 748? I also have a bit of R7 on hand, but was saving that for my 358 win with this bullet.
Hodgdon shows 39 grains being max with the Hornady rn bullet, I was thinking of trying the 35-37 grain range which should keep me in the 28k-30k cup range.

my experiences with R7 have been good for CB's at that velocity range.

35 rem is one caliber you can load a cast bullet at full jacketed bullet velocity. start on low end and work your loads up. they are many powders that work well in 35 rem. reloader 7 is an excellent powder for 200 gr bullets in 35 rem. lever revolution works well for about the highest velocity and you will probably find with that powder that accuracy is best at the highest powder levels.

I agree with farmbif, you can safely load cast to full speed in the 35 Rem. The Lee Reloading Handbook lists loads for 200 gr. jacketed with #748 ball powder, starting at 35.1 gr. up to 39.0 gr. with a velocity of 2130 fps and pressure at 33,000 CUP. They do not list velocity/pressure for the starting load. That was the highest velocity listed for the 200 gr. bullet. Reloder 7 was listed at 27.1 gr. up to 31.0gr., at a velocity of 2115 fps and a pressure of 30,700 CUP. Those were the two fastest loads listed. Either of these loads should be within the capabilities of a good 200 gr. cast boolit. Go for it!

748 is about as valuable as Gold right now.

You might be able to sell or trade it for something that is a favorite for what you're wanting to do.

"No way?" Not so. You can interchange jacketed data and cast data. BUT you need to be aware that pressures/performance might not be the same, so you have to start at the low end of the load data and work up.

In my experience you will get velocities above best accuracy long before you get over pressure.

Down loading with 748 ball powder is not to my liking. IMR better or use Hodgdon Youth Loads, method, using H4895.

In a 35 Rem Contender, using a couple cast 200 gr GC bullet designs, H335, and LeverEvolution gave me very respectable groups at ~ 2000 fps (14" barrel w/ integral brake).
H4895 Gave me really poor groups w/ same bullets, which somewhat surprised me.
I also now use a surplus Russian flake w/ 200 GC cast w/ great satisfaction.

If you have W748 data, I would think it fine to use, and likely will work fine, though you may find some powder produces better groups than others.
