Took a trip up home to hunt with family for the Oklahoma modern gun sesaon. Scored on an medium sized 8 point the first evening with a rifle and jacketed bullet so I started trying to corner a doe with the 10MM revolver. On the third morning a group of does came through and they made the mistake of getting way too close to the ground blind. Had to wait on the three of them to separate and the middle doe finally gave me a quartering to angle at about 20 yards. The shot hit her a little further back than I wanted but still got one lung and the liver. Entry wound was roughly 3/4" since it hit her at an angle but I never found the boolit during field dressing since it went into the abdomen. At the shot she jumped straight up and took off running to my left behind the blind. I could still see her running through the grass and scattered trees but she went out of sight at about 75 yards. I walked towards where I lost sight of her and found her crashed almost exactly in the spot where she dropped out of my view. Turned out to be a nice adult doe that hog dressed 95lbs. She had also lost the tips of both ears in last winter's colder than normal weather. Load was HS-7 and 50/50 lead cast from the MP 402-190 mold lubed with Carnauba Red. My bullets weigh approximately 185 grains with the deep hollow point. Overall very pleased with the 10MM on deer. Not sure why the deer pic is upside down.....

Gun is 6" S & W Model 610.....as I get older, I get tired of looking for brass so the revolver solves that issue. Even with a tarp you loose a few. Not a big fan of the moon clips but hunting it's not like you are blasting through ammo.

Twenty yard shots are exciting. Especially if it's looking at you. And you're using a handgun. Well done, sir.

Nice! My buddy shot a little 5 pointer with his Glock 40 and Seller & Belloit jacketed 180 grain ammo this season. Said it dropped in its tracks and never flinched! His bullet never exited either. I’ll have to get my leading figured out with the 160 grain HPs i casted up and give it a try.

He must still have young eyes!

Not exactly young eyes in the mid-fifties but if the animal gets too close and gives me a chance they may be in trouble. Six inch barrels help as well by getting the front sight just a little further away.

No pass through, boolit passed into abdomen.

Come on man, you could have dug thru the guts to find the boolit...for science!

How long did you wait before tracking it? I suspect it didn't make it too much longer

Waited about ten minutes before taking up the trail. She didn't bleed much until right before she crashed which I'm sure was due to shot placement and angle of the bullet path.
