Found a Model 41 6.5 Carcano with a great barrel. 28 inches and a 7.9" twist. Slugs at 0.2685". I am looking at three NOE molds. They are the 270-147, 270-151, and 270-165. Can anyone recommend one mold over the others?

I have not cast for a Carcano, but have cast for a 6.5 Japanese. In the past I shot commercial reloads out of a borrowed Carcano, and was impressed by the length of the bullet. According to my limited research, the original military load used a 162 gr jacketed bullet. It is my understanding that the full sized infantry rifles used gain twist, to handle the heavy-for-diameter bullet. Whatever you use, I would try to get as close to 162 grains as you can.

Perhaps I'm wrong but I seem to recall the the 6.5mm Carcano shot a boolit a little larger than the standard 6.5mm. Can anyone else here confirm that?

Original bullets are .267 to .268 FMJ. I cast the 165 grain RNFB with a gas check. They shoot very well if .270 at about 1,800 FPS hard alloy.
Some dies will size the neck too small causing problems loading the .270 bullet.

My rifle is a Model 41. It does not have the increasing twist. It is a consistent 7.9 twist.

I think you're correct. My understanding is that it takes a 0.269 to 0.270" boolit for the Cacano. Other 6.5 makes can get by with 0.266" plus.

Carcano 6.5 military ball used a 162gn FMJRN bullet of .2665 diameter.

Commercial 6.5 MM Bullets run .264", versus the ~.267-.268 bores reported on the Carcano rifles.

iirc gain twist was stopped by most Carcano manufacturers after WWI --smallest of mine is .267, largest .269 -
